Fat Canyon (PL937) – Top hole
What happened:
A 30 m3 viscous freshwater spacer was pumped ahead of the cement to avoid contamination from sea water.
Firm cement was tagged approximately 3 m inside conductor, some 2 m deeper than theoretically calculated.
What was planned:
30″ conductor cement job was planned and performed successfully without innerstring, using Tuned Light cement.
The method has been used before, by estimating the volumes, but that has usually been done with regular G-cement. On Fat Canyon it was done using Tuned Light cement.
What was learned:
This method for cementing conductor can be used also with Tuned Light cement.
What actions are required:
Always keep vigilance on volume calculations for such cement job.
